Fashion week 2018 look book contest

A little friendly competition never looked so good! We encouraged 2018 Fashion Week of Rochester sponsors to put their best (creative) foot forward with a Look Book Contest, sponsored by Clark Patterson Lee. And wow, did they ever!

Check out the top nine ads (it’s our NINTH year!) in no particular order, along with our winner. The winning sponsor receives a luncheon table at the Afternoon Rendezvous luncheon and runway show on Tuesday, October 9th.

Our esteemed panel of judges included Mark Liu - Rochester Magazine, Vince Press - Clark Patterson Lee, Susan Larkin -RIT and Emily Zimmerman & Jocelyn Porter - Partners & Napier.

Congratulations to our WINNING AD - Pittsford Florist!

Judges notes on the winning ad:

“I love the simplicity of this ad, and that it still features the CFY. It was really nice to see the sponsor doing something different and out of the box for the ad that would tie back to FWR.”

“The flower crown is beautiful and ties it in with the fashion realm without losing sight of the brand’s business.”

Presenting - in no particular order - our Look Book Contest finalists!

AMERICAN GREETINGS - “Soft, simple and stylish, this design uses a contemporary palate with subtle self-promotion and a nod to Fashion Week.”

BANK OF AMERICA - “Really appreciated the tie in for CFY. Even though they are such a large, national company, it was really nice to see a connection to this local event and the reason behind it.”

CITY OF ROCHESTER - “This creative could be a base for an entire marketing campaign.  Beautiful copy and relevance meets appealing design with a creative ode to fashion.”

EXCELLUS BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD - “From the standpoint of cutting through, this ad grabs you and stops the page turning.”

GALLINA DEVELOPMENT - “Simple concept but the nice sleek photo of The Metropolitan does marry nicely with the fashion image they chose.”

HICKEY FREEMAN - The black and white photography makes a statement and unifies the piece very nicely. The pop of yellow/orange from the logo keeps it fun and fresh. The subtle callouts to the models stories adds another layer of intrigue.”

ROCHESTER OPTICAL - “The idea behind this ad was really interesting – bringing in the product along with a model to represent the fashion week component and the ties back to Rochester with the skyline, lilacs, and purple tones.”

SILK BRIDAL BOUTIQUE - Who doesn’t love wedding gowns and balloons? Such a visually stunning photograph, and a unique approach on a bridal ad.”
